Cement

Sephaku Cement, a subsidiary of Sephaku Holdings, entered into a turnkey supply agreement with Sinoma International Engineering Company Ltd for the establishment of a 2.2 million ton per annum clinker and cement-producing facility in the Lichtenburg district, North West Province (the Aganang Project). Approximately half of the clinker produced at Aganang, will be shipped to Delmas, Mpumalanga where the second component of the turnkey project will be constructed, namely a 1.2 million ton per annum cement grinding facility (the Delmas Project). Initial construction activities have begun and both facilities are scheduled to be in full production by the end of 2012. The company has a dedicated, highly experienced and motivated team with many years experience in cement, working alongside the Sinoma team to bring the cement project into production by the required date.

Sephaku Cement has also secured a long term agreement with Eskom’s Kendal Power Station for the supply of coal ash, which is used extensively in cement manufacture and concrete products as a cement extender. This has led to the formation of Sephaku Ash, a division of Sephaku Cement, which will beneficiate and market fly ash products to both Sephaku Cement and the retail sector. To this end Sephaku Ash has built a state of the art ash beneficiation plant at Kendal Power Station commissioned in September 2009 and now, supplying the market with both classified fly ash branded as SMARTASH, and unclassified ash, branded as HARDASH.
